Ruins of a Dominican church A dominican monastery was established in the vicinity of Matthias church in 1242, its massive tower dates back to the end of 15th century. The church and monastery were destroyed during the turkish occupation, a jesuit monastery was built here in the 18th century. Most of these buildings were destroyed in World War II, ruins of the medieval monastery and the facade of the jesuit monastery were integrated into the modern Hotel Hilton. The medieval monastery tower was decorated in 1930 with a copy of a carving of King Matthias, the original one can be found in Bautzen.
